I chose to play with value and perspective in this piece. Challenging myself to use a new technique, I attached the tree trunks with reverse appliqué and chose to use raw edges to create a more organic feel. The quilt is heavily machine quilted and shadows of other tree branches and trunks are outlined in the border. The whole piece was a delightful spontaneous journey exploring unknown paths. The vivid background against the neutral colors of the tree trunks offers the observer a striking view into the mist.

Quilt is rough edged pieced and machine quilted.
