The waterfall cascades down and sprays about shimmering in the
sun-like stars falling from the sky. As Emily stands looking up at the glittering stars, she
dreams she is an astronaut blanketed by immense planets, blazing Ohio stars, glistening friendship
stars and renowned flying geese.
The silhouette is of my 9 year old Emily who dreams of being an astronaut. The quilt included
many first-time challenges for me. The original curved piecing and irregular log cabins use 79
different fabrics. The large scale of the quilt, use of speciality fabrics, thread painting and
bobbin work, were all new for me and fun to try. This quilt has appeared in Houston, Paduacah,
as well as about six other shows around the country.
