WENDY AS A TEACHER/LECTURER

Enthusiatic, encouraging, entertaining and knowledgeable describe Wendy Butler Berns
as a teacher and lecturer. Common threads found in her work and classes are
strong use of color, twisting the traditional to focus on original design, an unabashed
free motion quilting style, and the versatility to work with a wide range of quilting
techniques and student abilities. Her passion and energy are contagious.

Since 1997, Wendy has been traveling regionally and nationally
teaching at guilds and venues such as the International Quilt Festival, Houston, Texas,
Chicago Spring Festival, Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza,
Minnesota State Quilt Show and Quilter’s Heritage Celebration, Lancaster.

LECTURES

All lectures include slides and quilts from Wendy’s original work.

"CREATING CAPTIVATING COLOR IN OUR QUILTS"
Wander with Wendy as she guides you through an eclectic collection of traditional and contemporary quilts, all with a common thread - captivating color. She will offer ways of taking a few small steps or multiple bold ones in experimenting with color. Wendy will then explore ways of approaching the color challenge using a tried and true tool - the color wheel.

"INSPIRATIONS OF AN ART QUILTER"
When we create art, where do the inspirations come from? What steps does an artist take along the creative path? Through the use of a personal trunk show and slides of quilts, Wendy will show you how
her passion for this art form colors her view of the world.

What does an entomologist for a father and a gardener for a mother have to do with the kind of quilts one creates? Join in this lighthearted quilt tour and trunk show of Wendy’s work as well as
others.

Our quilts and their stories can be spellbinding. Using a trunk show and slides of an array of wonderful current quilts, Wendy will share the inspirations and stories of fellow quilters as well as
her own.

"SCRAP CITY"
Viewing scrap quilts is an energetic fitness program for the eyes. Using slides and a trunk show, Wendy will share tips that will add sparkle, excitement and unexpected surprises to your next
scrap quilt project

WORKSHOPS

My workshops are technique and process based. Some workshops use a specific pattern, others do not. Each student leaves class with a project or sample reference that is uniquely theirs.
